Virtual flight planning and briefing
It is one of the most important duties of a pilot and first officer to plan and brief their flight with the crew, planning a flight route is important since it can make pilots aware of things such as weather,NOTAM's,runway closures, and much more. All of the previously mentioned things can affect your flight possibly requiring you to adjust your routing. Here at American Virtual Airlines we are committed to realism so it is expected that our pilots take the steps outlined in this manual.
Utilizing weather tools and resources
Weather tools are often considered a pilots best friend a multitude of weather hazards exist for real world and virtual pilots alike, this can range from high altitude thunderstorms which can often reach into the troposphere causing commercial flights to divert their routing around it, to blizzard conditions at the airport you are going to be landing at causing runway closures or even closing the airport all together.
We have tools thoughtthough that can help us to to spot these problems and address them before we even board our virtual plane, along with your flight planning you should be using weather apps or tools this can range from flight planning apps that allow you to see weather, or just going online and finding a weather radar website and checking the weather along your route. Taking these steps can ensure a safe and smooth flight for both yourself and your virtual passenger.
Virtual aircraft inspection and preparation
As pilots one of the many duties we have before we can take to the skies is the inspection of our aircraft and preparing for the flight ahead. As we strive for realism at American Virtual Airlines we want our pilots to take every step in the direction of realism during our everyday operations. We understand some simulators allow you to walk around and inspect your aircraft better than others and we are not asking for a thirty minute walk around but we do ask that our pilots at least take the time to ensure their aircraft is airworthy.
